BAND T.P.I SELECTION

It is recommended that a minimum of three (3) teeth and a maximum of 18 teeth be in contact with the work piece.  The optimum T.P.I. being approximately eight (8) teeth in contact with the work piece.  NOTE:  hardened materials require a finer pitch.

BAND WIDTH

Always select the maximum width possible due to the increased structural strength of the wider blade.  This means a heavier feed can be employed; normally giving a quicker, more accurate and straighter cut.

BAND THICKNESS

As a basic rule the band thickness is governed by the wheel diameter of your machine.  Using a blade too thick for a machine with small wheels will result in damage.  Check your machine manufacturers hand book / instruction manual.

BANDSAW INSTALLATION

Installing the blade properly will greatly enhance performance, life and cutting efficiency.

Always set the band guides as close as practically possible to the work piece, whilst aligning the blade in a straight line.

BAND BREAK-IN PROCEDURE

Important:  when cutting metal start the machine at the recommended band speed and at a reduced feed pressure, gradually increasing the feed pressure throughout a number of cuts to the optimum feed pressure.  Failure to observe this will result in band damage, the most common being tooth strippage, chipped and broken teeth and rapid even wear on the corners and tips of the teeth.
